I have used OPT for my first master’s degree. Can I still use it for my second master’s degree?
The answer is no . The U.S. Immigration Service requires that you can only apply for OPT once after graduating from each level of degree, which means that you only have one opportunity to apply for OPT after graduating from a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or doctoral degree.
If you applied for one year of OPT
from the school after graduating from your first Master’s degree, you cannot apply for OPT during your second Master’s degree. There are some exceptions, such as if you only applied for three months/six months of OPT from the school after graduating from your first Master’s degree, then you can apply for OPT for the remaining time for your second Master’s degree, but basically the school will not process OPT for separate use. So I hope everyone can arrange their own OPT time reasonably.
2. I did not apply for OPT for my
first master’s degree in a STEM program, but my second master’s degree is not in a STEM program. Can I still use the OPT Extension for my first master’s degree?

However, the prerequisite is that the student needs to work in a career related to the first master’s Stem project during the OPT Extension period.
